Delegates from across Nigeria arrived in Abuja today, Wednesday, July 9, for the second National Youth Leadership Conference of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), receiving a rousing welcome from the National Speaker, Rt. Hon. Famuyibo Oluwasegun. In a formal address, the Speaker hailed their presence as a bold affirmation of their commitment to national unity and youth-driven transformation.
Themed “From Awareness to Action: Nigerian Youth as Catalysts for National Security,” the 2025 conference aims to spotlight the role of young people in shaping Nigeria’s security architecture and governance. Oluwasegun called on all participants to engage fully and responsibly, urging them to let the gathering be remembered for its ideas and impact rather than its attendance alone.
He commended state ambassadors for mobilizing youth across all regions of the country and thanked invited guests and stakeholders for their support, which he said reinforces the readiness of Nigerian youth to lead. The Speaker emphasized that Abuja is not just a venue but a “space where voices matter and action replaces mere aspiration.”
The conference is scheduled to formally open on Wednesday, July 10, with sessions expected to produce concrete recommendations and alliances to advance youth participation in national development and security.
