Chidi Odinkalu, a respected human rights lawyer and former chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has reacted to the brouhaha stirred as a result of the verbal confrontations between popular presenter Oseni Rufai and the former governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi. According to his statements which were shared on his official X handle, Odinkalu pointed out that the former governor earned the expulsion he got.

 

Many were left stunned after popular Arise TV presenter Oseni Rufai and the former governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi clashed during an on air interview at the television station.

 

The scene, which garnered widespread traction across various social media platforms, drew massive reactions as many condemned the antics of the interviewer and the interviewed.

 

Reacting, Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights activist and legal expert in a statement which was shared on his official X handle, made a remarkable comment that sparked public debate.

 

According to the statements, he pointed out that the Minister for Works showed up for an interview only to threaten the anchor for doing his job. He described his actions as inciting and deserving of rebukes.

 

However, Chidi Odinkalu, known for his outspokenness and boldness, noted that the minister richly deserved the defenestration he got from the anchor who ‘mopped the floor with him’.

 

These were the words of Chidi Odinkalu which he shared on his official X handle,

 

“So, David Umahi shows up for an interview to darkly and gratuitously threaten Rufai for doing his job…and he expected to be congratulated? I am glad Rufai mopped the floor with him,” he wrote.
