Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has urged the people of the South-East region to embrace objectivity over sentiments regarding the Federal Government’s development initiatives, asserting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu possesses genuinely good intentions toward the region.​
Speaking in remarks shared online, the former Ebonyi State Governor stated that God sent him at this pivotal time to tell the truth to the South-East populace, despite facing criticism or insults on social media. He emphasised that the current administration is actively working to integrate the zone into key national development plans and address long-standing infrastructural deficiencies.​
Highlighting his role in the Federal Executive Council, Umahi noted that his position has helped secure critical federal road and bridge infrastructure projects across the South-East. He framed the execution of these major projects as a deliberate effort by the President to right past wrongs and ensure equitable development for the region.​
Drawing on biblical references, the Minister called on regional stakeholders and residents to participate constructively in the development process and recognize the current opportunities available to the zone rather than remaining sidelined by political sentiments.
