The Working People United, a coalition of organised labour, professionals, artisans, traders and other stakeholders, has honoured Rep. Leke Abejide with its Responsible Citizen Seal Award for his support for responsible leadership and national development.
The award was presented during a courtesy visit to the lawmaker in Abuja as part of the coalition’s nationwide stakeholder engagement programme. WOPU National Coordinator-General, Williams Akporeha, said the organisation was promoting constructive engagement with government and supporting President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, which he described as necessary for the country’s long-term recovery.
Akporeha said more than 20,000 Nigerians had registered on WOPU’s digital membership platform within two months. He added that the coalition had also begun nationwide awareness campaigns to mobilise support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and re-election in 2027.
Responding, Abejide, who represents Yagba Federal Constituency of Kogi State in the House of Representatives, commended WOPU for promoting responsible leadership, national unity and economic development. He pledged to mobilise members of the Customs Union to join the coalition and urged its leadership to remain united as its influence continued to grow.
The lawmaker also announced that he would lead Tinubu’s campaign activities in Kogi State and invited WOPU members to participate. WOPU said it would return at a later date to formally decorate Abejide with its Patron Plaque, while both parties reaffirmed their commitment to mobilising support for Tinubu’s re-election in the 2027 general elections.
