The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for nominating Senator Magnus Abe as the Board Chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
Wike expressed his appreciation to the President during a “thank you” visit to Ogu-Bolo Local Government Area of Rivers State, where he described the nomination as a recognition of competence and inclusiveness in federal appointments.
According to the FCT minister, the appointment of Abe, a former senator representing Rivers State, reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to rewarding experience and ensuring that qualified Nigerians contribute to the growth of critical sectors of the economy.
Wike also lauded the President for the nomination of another Rivers indigene, Kenneth Kobani, as a non-executive member of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
He noted that the appointments demonstrate the President’s resolve to give Rivers State a sense of belonging at the federal level, particularly in strategic institutions within the oil and gas sector.
The minister urged the appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them by contributing meaningfully to reforms and effective regulation in the petroleum industry, in line with the Federal Government’s economic and energy objectives.
Wike further reaffirmed his support for President Tinubu’s administration, pledging continued collaboration in advancing national development and good governance.
