While inaugurating the newly rehabilitated Aguma Palace–Radio Nigeria–New Market Road in the Federal Capital Territory, Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, took a swipe at those criticizing the current administration and forming early political coalitions.
In a speech laced with sarcasm and political jabs, Wike questioned how politicians who had served for over a decade in various top positions had now turned around to criticize President Tinubu’s performance within just six months of assuming office. “When will you stop deceiving Nigerians? Somebody came into office six months ago, and you started a coalition. Meanwhile, you were in office for eight years as governor, four years as Speaker, and eight years as Minister of Transportation. You never made angry Nigerians happy,” Wike said.
He called on those throwing stones to present their legacy. “Everybody, show your scorecard,” Wike declared. “When I was Senate President, let me show my scorecard. How did I help the people of Benue State? How did I help the people of Otukpo?”
The remarks were made in the presence of traditional leaders and residents gathered to witness the formal reopening of the vital road infrastructure in the city, underscoring Wike’s preference for performance-based political credibility.
