A former lawmaker representing Ikwuano/ Umuahia Federal Constituency, Rep. Sam Onuigbo, says the transformative policies of President Bola Tinubu motivated him into joining the race for the Senate.
The former two-term member of the House of Representatives recently declared his interest in contesting for Abia Central Senatorial seat in 2027.
Onuigbo, while saluting Tinubu for his leadership excellence and economic transformation, said it was his belief in the president’s transformative policies that actuated his ambition to contest for the senatorial seat.
“I am bold to say that my journey to the Nigerian Senate is to invest my rich experience and reflect hope as encapsulated in the Renewed Hope Agenda of our leader, President Bola Tinubu,” he said.
Onuigbo expressed optimism that Tinubu-led APC administration would be victorious in 2027.
“I wish to state that the consolidation of the Renewed Hope Agenda is predicated on the preponderance of qualitatity of the lawmakers in the 11th National Assembly,” he said.
The former lawmaker thanked the leaders and members of Abia APC, particularly in the Abia Central senatorial district, for supporting him to fly the party’s flag in 2023 as a senatorial candidate.
He reiterated his capacity to give the senatorial district qualitative representation in the 11th Assembly of given the opportunity.
“If supported to represent our senatorial district in the senate, I will ensure that every ward, state constituency and local government will serve as fulcrum of representation through seamless constituency consultation strategy,” he stated.
Onuigbo commended the success of the just-concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention, saying it was in strict adherence to the 2026 Electoral Act.
NAN reports that the Eighth APC national convention, held in Abuja between Friday and early Saturday, saw the return of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda and Sen. Ajibola Basiru as National Chairman and National Secretary respectively.
Other members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) were also returned through consensus and affirmative voice vote.
