To pull the heartstrings of constituents and voters, Nigerian politicians now increasingly depend on “empowerment programs” – gifts of food items, cash, sewing machines, tricycles, etc. – procured with public funds.
These programs cost a fortune, cannot be replicated often, and are now widely considered as “our share of the national cake.” They don’t connect deeply.
But words, delivered appropriately, are among the most powerful and enduring ties that bind leaders and followers; motivate audiences; and galvanize communities.
Meaningful words cost little or nothing – except deep reflection, empathy and insights. They can define the essence, trajectory, and careers of people in public life. Yet they are in short supply.
We are inspired to fill that gap. We have assembled some of the finest minds for the mission. We will demand accountability for every word. Because words are spirit and power.
We are independent professional speech writers, researchers and analysts. Welcome to a new day.
