The Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on the Presidency to urgently clarify President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s continued absence from the country.

The demand comes six days after the official expiration of his announced three-week working vacation in Europe. The press conference took place at 11:00 AM on Sunday at the ADC National Secretariat in Plot 452, Cadastral Zone, Central Business District, Abuja.

ADC PCC Director of Media and Communications, Chief Segun Sowunmi, addressed journalists and criticised the administration’s handling of the President’s whereabouts, calling it a breach of public trust.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced that President Tinubu had departed Abuja for London, United Kingdom on August 30, to begin a three-week working vacation.

The original 21-day vacation period officially lapsed on September 20. The Presidency later announced on September 21, that the President’s stay in Europe would be extended briefly while he managed government affairs remotely from Paris, France.

President Tinubu remains abroad, six days past the initial return date, prompting public outcry and opposition demands for clarification.

Addressing reporters, Chief Segun Sowunmi stated that the lack of clear, direct communication regarding the President’s exact itinerary creates unnecessary political instability and constitutional ambiguities.

”Governance is not a secret society affair,” Sowunmi declared. “The Nigerian public deserves total transparency regarding the location, health status, and official schedule of their Head of State. Overriding an officially communicated return date without a formal transmission of power to the Vice President under Section 145 of the 1999 Constitution sets a concerning precedent.”

The ADC PCC urged the State House press team to brief the nation directly on the President’s detailed activities, exact whereabouts, and definitive return date, urging them to stop relying on sporadic social media updates.

While Presidency officials have maintained that President Tinubu remains fully engaged in state matters and continues to direct executive operations remotely from Europe, no formal statement addressing the ADC’s specific demands was released prior to the press conference.

Reports from State House sources suggest the President is scheduled to land in Lagos ahead of national events later in the week.
