History is a wonderful product of reference and records. November 20th,2025, to me, becomes historic again. As Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s case drove my brain back to 1781 Zong case. Zong was a slave ship that sailed fromWestt Africa with over four hundred slaves onboard the ship. When the captain Luke lashwood observed that theirs shortage of water in the ship.
He ordered that they should throw one hundred and thirty slaves onboard the ship to the sea. Because if they die for lack of water, insurance company won’t pay the ship owners for the lost as it will be counted on them. But for sacrificing them to the water, it’s a good business for the ship owners as they can lay claims and get paid.
It’s just exactly what happened to MNK,as Igbo political leaders throw him in for a claim i the political arena. Zong case of 1781, wasn’t about humans or the real crime. But it was all about money and gains. November 20th,2025 also wasn’t about law or justice. It was outrightly about the interest and political bargain of Igbo politicians. But, when the real memo of the Zong ship case filtered inside England.
The uproar was much against British government and that lead to abolishment of slave trade and slavery. When the real players of the 20th November 2025, sentencing will be unveil,I foresee the uproar that will consume many elites of Igbo extraction and put an end to second class stools.
In summary, the words of general Philip Effiong on 12th January 1970. Has a lot to do about the happenings. That he is surrendering the flags today for peace. But if Biafra or Biafrans are being treated the way they’ve been treated before. That their children will still fight again.
