Kendall Jenner said sister Khloe Kardashian could’ve been “gentler” with ex Lamar Odom during her first reunion with the basketball player since their 2016 divorce.
Kendall Jenner has some thoughts on how Khloe Kardashian treated Lamar Odom during their reunion.
ICYMI: Khloe reunited with her ex-husband for the first time in nine years during the season six premiere of The Kardashians. Though the two were cordial during the meeting, the reality star did firmly shut down Lamar—who she divorced in 2016—when he called her his “wife” and “babe.”
Now, Kendall believes her older sister could’ve been “a bit gentler” with her interaction.
“It was interesting how cold she can be,” the supermodel told Kylie Jenner on March 20 episode of their family’s reality show. “It made me sad. I cried watching it.”
However, Kendall said that she understands why Khloe was “tense” during her sit-down with Lamar, whose past drug abuse led the Good American founder to call it quits on their marriage.
“I’ve never been through what Khloe’s been through, and she’s been through a lot,” Kendall explained in a confessional. “But for her sake, I felt there was a level of forgiveness that was lacking.”
The 29-year-old went on to note she’s seen a similar “reaction” in her sibling when it comes to Tristan Thompson, who cheated on Khloe before they broke up in 2021.
“When Tristan and her got friendly again and were coparenting, she was kind of snarky with him around other people,” Kendall said of the former couple, who share kids True, 6, and Tatum, 2. “She almost didn’t want to be judge by everyone else for being around him because he did bad things.”
And for Kendall, she hopes her sister can “find compassion” for her exes in the future.
“I understand there are parts of her that are uncomfortable,” she added of Khloe. “You can forgive and not forget.”
But for Khloe, the reason why she had her guard up around Lamar was because she already “dealt with so much trauma in this relationship.”
“For years, this was such the love of my life that to learn how to unlove someone, to have to go through all that, it’s almost like a death,” the 40-year-old explained during The Kardashians’ season six premiere. “Him calling me his wife, words are empty.”
Besides, Khloe noted, “I don’t know this person anymore.”
“This is so familiar and so unchartered all at the same time,” she continued. “It’s just a mindf–k.”
