Social media activist VeryDarkMan staged a dramatic protest Monday morning at the gate of the FCT Minister’s office in Abuja over the ongoing teachers’ strike. Dressed in school uniform, he arrived with a group of schoolchildren also in uniform and turned the protest into a mock classroom session.
During the protest, he used a loudspeaker to teach the children the alphabet, calling out letters like “T for Tinubu, W for Wike,” which the children repeated. The action, caught on camera and shared widely online, was aimed at drawing attention to the weeks-long closure of public schools in the capital due to unpaid salaries and unresolved labour issues with teachers.
Placards held by the children questioned the priorities of government officials, accusing leaders of ignoring their education while attending political meetings. The strike, now in its ninth week, has disrupted learning across several public schools in the FCT with little sign of resolution.
