Chairman, Code of Conduct Bureau, Dr. Abdullahi Usman wants all Public Office holders and Civil servants in the country to use its online platform known as ” CCB on-line Assets Declaration System” for assets declaration.

Dr. Usman stated this during an opening remark at the Rule of Law And Anti-Corruption Capacity Building Workshop on the handling of the “On-line Assets Declaration System” put together by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) in Collaboration with the Centre For Social Justice (CSJ) for stakeholders in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

The Code of Conduct Bureau Chairman, said the transition from manual to the digital Assets Declaration Platform, was to eliminate bureaucratic bottlenecks and enhance the fight against corruption.

Represented by the Head of Department, Education and Advocacy of the Bureau , Mr Koyonda Edward, Dr Usman
said, the online system would empower public officials to declare Assets seamlessly while enabling real-time monitoring.

He explained that the workshop was to build capacity, foster ownership and nurture collaboration especially among public and Civil servants, institutions, civil societies and citizens to ensure collective vigilance.

Edo State Director, Code of Conduct Bureau, Mrs Theresa Nwafor on her part decried the low level of compliance on Asset Declaration among public and Civil servants in the state expressing optimism that the workshop would change the narrative.

Earlier in his submissions, the Director, Centre for Social Justice, Mr Eze Onyekpere stressed that the workshop was to sensitize public servants and Civil servants in Edo State on the importance of assets declaration.

Mr Onyekpere who enumerated the practical benefits
to accrue from the Online Assets Declaration System include ease of compliance for declarants, as there was no need for collection of forms and going before a judge among other issues , maintained that Edo, Anambra, Lagos, Plateau, Adamawa, Kano States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been chosen as the focal states for the training.
