The United States (US), the United Kingdom (UK) and the European Union (EU), have congratulated Nigeria on the nation’s 64th independence anniversary.
United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, in a statement issued on the occasion of the anniversary, said Nigeria exemplifies dynamism and resilience in Africa.
Blinken also said he looks forward to the continued collaboration between the United States and Nigeria to advance shared goals and tackle global challenges in the year to come.
“On behalf of the United States of America, I extend our congratulations to the people of Nigeria on the 64th anniversary of your independence.
“Nigeria exemplifies dynamism and resilience in Africa and is a key contributor to regional peace and stability. Our partnership is built on mutual respect, shared democratic values, strong people-to-people ties, and commitment to fostering peace, prosperity, and security.
“We are committed to deepening our cooperation in areas such as advancing inclusive economic development, energy access, democracy and human rights, and environmental sustainability. I look forward to our continued collaboration to advance our shared goals and tackle global challenges in the year to come.
“On this special day, I send my best wishes to all Nigerians for a peaceful and prosperous future,” Blinken said.
Also, the Deputy High Commissioner, British High Commission, Abuja, Gill Lever, in a message posted on X, said: “Congratulations Nigeria on your 64th anniversary of independence.
“Wonderful parade, pomp and circumstance at State House. H.E. President Tinubu’s arrival to bagpipes playing Scotland the Brave underscored our shared history and enduring friendship.”
In a post on its Facebook page, the Delegation of the European Union to Nigeria and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), said it will continue to remain Nigeria’s strong ally for peace, progress and all-round prosperity.
“The EU rejoices with the Government and people of Nigeria on this 64th Independence anniversary. We will continue to remain Nigeria’s strong ally for peace, progress and all-round prosperity. Congratulations, Nigeria!” the EU said.
