Former Sokoto State Governor and Senator representing Sokoto South Senatorial District, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, on Sunday visited Jabo District in Sokoto State to commiserate with residents following recent air strikes carried out by United States forces on terrorist enclaves in the area.
The air strikes were conducted between the night of December 25 and the early hours of December 26 as part of ongoing counter-terrorism operations targeting armed groups operating within the district. During the visit, Tambuwal said he was in the community to offer moral support and assess the situation firsthand, urging residents to remain calm despite the unfortunate incident.
He also called on the people to continue to cooperate with security agencies in their efforts to restore lasting peace in the area. Describing the development as regrettable, the former governor sympathised with those affected by the operation and prayed that such incidents would not recur.
“Whenever incidents like this happen, people naturally become worried and concerned,” Tambuwal said. “What is important is that leaders are on ground to assess the situation, reassure the people and ensure that peace is maintained.”
Tambuwal reaffirmed his confidence in the security agencies and stressed the need for sustained collaboration between the military and local communities to effectively combat terrorism and safeguard lives and property in Sokoto State.
