President Donald Trump has officially unveiled the rendering of a new, limited-edition U.S. passport featuring his own likeness, a move designed to mark the upcoming 250th anniversary of American independence.
The announcement, which Trump shared via his Truth Social platform, showcases a mock-up of what the White House is calling the “Patriot Passport.”
The interior visa pages depart from traditional historical landmarks, replacing them with a custom portrait of a stern-faced Trump leaning on his desk, superimposed over the text of the Declaration of Independence and accompanied by his signature in gold.
“The U.S.A.’s New Passport, which says, ‘Welcome, but be good!'” Trump posted alongside the digital rendering.The commemorative travel document is part of the administration’s broader “America250” celebrations scheduled for July.
According to State Department officials, the passports will maintain the identical high-tech security features of standard documents but will display the customized presidential artwork.
The reverse side of the portrait page features John Trumbull’s famous 1819 painting depicting the signing of the Declaration of Independence, inscribed with the words “United States of America 250.”
The external cover will also see a minor adjustments, shifting “United States of America” to the prominent top slot above the word “Passport.”With this rollout, Trump becomes the first sitting U.S. president to have his face featured inside citizens’ active travel documents.
The passport design is the latest in a series of initiatives by the current administration to integrate the president’s likeness and name into federal property and symbols.
Other recent efforts tied to the 250th-anniversary celebrations include draft designs for a new one-dollar coin, presidential branding on the 2026 National Parks pass, and banners displayed outside multiple cabinet department headquarters in Washington.
