United States President Donald Trump today claimed that Washington had carried out what he described as a “large-scale strike” against Venezuela, alleging that President Nicolás Maduro and his wife had been captured and removed from the country.
Trump made the assertion in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, stating that the operation was conducted “in conjunction with U.S. law enforcement.”
“The United States of America has successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolás Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the country,” Trump wrote.
The U.S. President did not provide operational details or supporting evidence for the claim but said further information would be released later.
He also announced that a news conference would be held at 11 a.m. at his Mar-a-Lago residence in the U.S. state of Florida.
