Troops of the Nigerian Army, in a joint operation with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have arrested three suspected drug traffickers allegedly specializing in supplying illicit substances to terrorists and bandit groups in Katsina State.
​The suspects were apprehended on Tuesday at approximately 5:15 p.m. in Kagara village, located within the Kafur Local Government Area, according to intelligence and security sources.
The arrests were the result of a coordinated inter-agency ambush designed to choke off the logistics and supply chains of criminal syndicates operating in the Northwest.
Security officials disclosed that the suspects are deeply entrenched in a network that channels hard drugs to terrorists, fueling the ongoing insecurity and violent attacks in the region.
While the exact volume of the seized contraband remains undisclosed, sources confirm that a significant cache of illicit substances intended for transit to criminal hideouts was recovered during the raid.
​”This joint operation underscores the critical link between drug trafficking and terrorism in the region. By cutting off their supply of illicit substances, we are directly disrupting the operational capabilities of these criminal groups,” a senior security source stated.
​The suspects have been taken into custody and are currently undergoing profiling and interrogation. Officials state they will be handed over for prosecution as investigations expand to track down other collaborators within the syndicate.
