The Executive Chairman of Fufore Local Government Area in Adamawa State, Dr. Yahaya Sa’idu, has passed away in a Kaduna hospital after a brief illness. His sudden death comes less than three months after his inauguration on July 15, 2026, plunging the local government and state into deep mourning.

The death of the council leader was officially confirmed in Yola on Saturday, October 10, 2026. Ahmed B. Yusha’u, the Information Officer for the Fufore Local Government Council, released a statement announcing that Dr. Sa’idu passed away in Kaduna at approximately 1:00 a.m. He added that specific funeral arrangements and Islamic burial rites would be communicated to the public in due course.

The tragedy marks the second time in 18 months that Fufore Local Government Area has lost a sitting chairman, following the death of Dr. Sa’idu’s predecessor, Shuaibu Babas.

Hon. Barr. Aliyu Wakili (Boya), Member Representing Fufore/Song Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Police Institutions, issued a condolence message describing the death as a devastating blow to the constituency.

The Adamawa State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) expressed total submission to God’s will. In an official statement, State ALGON Chairman Hon. Titus Obadiah praised Dr. Sa’idu as a committed administrator whose grassroots vision for Fufore will be severely missed.

Hon. Ahmad Lawan, Senior Special Assistant on Security to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, extended condolences on behalf of the state administration to the grieving family and the entire people of Fufore Local Government Area.

Dr. Sa’idu was widely regarded across the state as a passionate community builder and philanthropist whose tenure was cut short just as his developmental initiatives were taking shape.
