Nigeria is set to host the 2025 Women’s World Table Tennis (WTT) event in Lagos, with some of the world’s top-ranked female players confirmed for the tournament. According to the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation, Japan’s Hina Hayata, currently ranked world No. 9, will headline the international roster. Other major names expected include African champion Hana Goda of Egypt and Prithika Pavade from France, signaling a strong global turnout for the event.
The Lagos leg of the WTT series, which has grown in profile over recent years, aims to boost Nigeria’s reputation as a key destination for elite table tennis. Organisers say the competition will not only give Nigerian players high-level exposure but also contribute to local tourism and sports development. The event is backed by the International Table Tennis Federation and is part of a strategic push to grow the sport across Africa through more regular top-tier tournaments on the continent.
