The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “There is a gate in Paradise called Ar-Raiyan, and those who observe fasts will enter through it on the Day of Resurrection and none except them will enter through it. It will be said, ‘Where are those who used to observe fasts?’ They will get up, and none except them will enter through it. After their entry the gate will be closed.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari 1896)

Abu Hurairah, (may Allah be pleased with him) related that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “If anyone forgets that he is fasting and eats or drinks he should complete his Siyam (fasting), for it is Allah who has fed him and given him drink.”
(Bukhari, Muslim)

Salman ibn Amir Dhabi, (may Allah be pleased with him) related that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Break your fast with dates, or else with water, for it is pure.”
(Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi)

….” But to fast is best for you, if you only knew.”
(Al-Baqara 2 :184)

Ramadan has come to you. (It is) a month of blessing, in which Almighty Allah covers you with blessing, for He sends down Mercy, decreases sins and answers prayers.
There are in the month of Ramadan in every day and night those to whom Allah Almighty grants freedom from Fire, and there is for every Believer a supplication which he can make and will be granted.”

It’s a reflective period where we analyze the person we are becoming.
To abstain from all things negative, be it in wicked thoughts, words, or actions.
