The national headquarters of The Muslim Congress (TMC) has condemned the recent coordinated attacks in Kwara and Katsina states that reportedly claimed more than 200 lives, describing the incidents as a troubling indication of the growing normalisation of mass killings in Nigeria.
170 people were killed in Woro community in Kwara State in what TMC described as a methodical and devastating assault that nearly wiped out the entire community.
In a related incident in Katsina State, no fewer than 21 residents were reportedly killed in their homes during another attack, further heightening concerns over the worsening security situation across the country.
Reacting to the development, TMC expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and condemned the attacks in strong terms. The organisation stressed that the victims should not be reduced to mere statistics, noting that they represented families, communities and futures violently cut short.
TMC warned that the frequency and scale of such attacks reflect a dangerous trend that threatens national cohesion and public safety. It called on government authorities and security agencies to take decisive and coordinated action to halt the violence and protect vulnerable communities.
The group also urged leaders at all levels to prioritise the protection of lives and property, while appealing to Nigerians to reject violence and support efforts aimed at restoring peace and security across the nation.
