As applause filled the hall in Birnin Kudu, the moment was meant to celebrate teachers. Yet, the conversation soon widened to the future of the nation. Standing before members of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Birnin Kudu Local Government Area branch, the Deputy Director General (North) of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), Hon. Magaji Da’u Aliyu, used the occasion to reflect on what he described as a defining chapter in Nigeria’s journey.
According to him, the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term is not merely a political ambition, but a timely decision in the best interest of the country. Aliyu made the remarks shortly after receiving an Award of Honour from the teachers’ union in recognition of his contributions to community development and public engagement. He said the President has demonstrated uncommon sacrifice and courage by initiating reforms many leaders avoided, reforms he believes are already laying the foundation for long-term national growth.
“President Tinubu has shown commitment, deep intellect and resilience in addressing the structural challenges of our economy,” Aliyu said. “These reforms are designed to align Nigeria’s social and economic systems with global best practices.” He noted that although the changes may appear difficult in the short term, history often rewards leaders who take bold decisions for sustainable development. The TSG chieftain urged Nigerians to remain patient and supportive, stressing that national transformation requires continuity, stability and collective understanding.
As the event drew to a close, the award in Aliyu’s hands symbolised recognition from educators, but his message was broader — a call for unity behind reforms he believes are shaping a stronger, more competitive Nigeria.
