Dr Atinuke Owolabi, the South West Representative on the Board of the North Central Development Commission, has said that President Bola Tinubu’s policies reflect leadership courage, compassion, and a desire for long-term progress.
While speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Tuesday, Owolabi stated that the president genuinely has the interest of the people at heart and is deliberately working to improve the country.
She also said the president had remained focused on building a stronger Nigeria, even when the decisions were difficult.
The former chairperson of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Lagos Chapter, while reflecting on 2025, called for patience, as Nigerians would begin to reap from Tinubu’s policies in 2026.
“Nigerians should be patient and understand that reforms take some time to bear fruit.
“The president also feels the pain of the people. Nigerians should focus on the intention behind the policies and the results that are gradually unfolding.
“The president is working to ensure better security across the country and has empowered local governments through direct allocation to bring development closer to the grassroots.
“He is also strengthening the economy and laying a solid foundation for sustainable growth and development across all sectors. These reforms take time, but they are necessary for lasting stability and progress,” she said.
She said Nigerians should expect more visible results from the foundation already laid by the president, especially in the areas of improved security, better infrastructure, stronger local economies, and job creation.
“With consistency and collective support, the impact of these policies will be felt more clearly at the grassroots level,” she said.
On the establishment of regional development commissions and her appointment as the South West Representative on the Board of the North Central Development Commission, Owolabi said they would bring better targeted development closer to the people.
“They are designed to address regional needs, reduce inequality, and ensure that no community is left behind.
“These commissions will fast-track development, create jobs, and improve living conditions across different parts of the country.”
Owolabi, a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (NIEEE), said her new role has further deepened her understanding of Nigeria’s diversity and unity.
She said diversity has clearly proven that every community matters in terms of development.
