President Bola Tinubu will, at 7:00 tomorrow, Sunday, August 4, address the nation in a broadcast, the Presidency has said.
 In a statement, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, advised television, radio, and other electronic media outlets to hook on to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) for the broadcast.
 According to the statement, the broadcast will be repeated on the network services of the NTA and the FRCN at 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm on same day.
Tinubu’s address comes as the ongoing nationwide protests demanding an end to hunger and poor governance, continued on Saturday.
 The protests, which began on Thursday and continued into Friday, have seen youths take to the streets in Abuja, Lagos, Kaduna, Kano, Rivers, and other regions.
 Amid severe economic hardships, many Nigerians are struggling to afford basic necessities like food and fuel.
In response, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized Tinubu for not addressing the nation sooner, stating that his silence is “worrisome” and “heightening public apprehension”.
 The PDP urged Tinubu to immediately address the nation on urgent steps to reduce fuel and food prices, stem the fall of the Naira, and ensure speedy provision of food to stimulate employment and restore stability.
They have also called for a comprehensive investigation into the reported killing of unarmed protesters by security operatives and alleged thugs mobilized by the ruling party, All Progressive Congress (APC).
