President Bola Tinubu will launch his 2027 re-election campaign in Kaduna on Oct. 24, Sen. Abdulaziz Yari, Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, has said.

Yari disclosed this on Friday while briefing State House Correspondents after meeting with Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He said the meeting focused on preparations for the campaign and arrangements for the President’s proposed visits to states ahead of the election.

“The President asked me to come and brief him on where we are and to discuss the timetable for the state visits.

“By God’s grace, his team, Mr President and I have agreed on how it is going to be done,” he said.

The former Zamfara governor said the campaign council’s inaugural meeting would hold on Oct. 14 at the State House Banquet Hall.

He explained that the council had prepared a timetable for Tinubu’s state visits, which the President had approved.

Yari said the campaign would begin in Kaduna before moving to Port Harcourt and subsequently Maiduguri.

“The next state is going to Port Harcourt. From there we will be in Maiduguri. We have the timetable, and we’re going to make it available after the inauguration,” Yari added.

He said further details of the campaign activities would be released after the council’s inaugural meeting.

Yari expressed confidence in Tinubu’s political support nationwide, arguing that the President’s re-election prospects would depend on securing substantial backing in both northern and southern Nigeria.

He challenged opposition figures, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra Governor Peter Obi, to demonstrate their electoral strength across the country.

Yari specifically questioned the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate’s ability to secure substantial support in southern Nigeria.

“If you don’t know, can you say that the ADC candidate today in the southern part of the country, can he beat his chest and say he has control of one state in the south?” he asked.

He argued that strong support in one region would not guarantee victory without a significant electoral presence elsewhere in the country.

Yari cited former President Muhammadu Buhari’s previous electoral struggles, in spite of enjoying substantial support across northern states, to illustrate the importance of nationwide backing.

He, however, claimed that Tinubu had attracted considerable support in both northern and southern Nigeria since assuming office.

The APC campaign chief also defended the administration’s economic record, saying its policies had begun to change the country’s economic situation.

He expressed confidence that the administration’s performance and the President’s support across the country would strengthen the ruling party’s position ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
