President Bola Ahmed Tinubu extended the appointments of Abdulhamid Salihu Dembos as Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Ali Mohammed Ali as Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) for a second three-year term.
​The decision was officially communicated in a press statement released on Sunday, August 23, 2026, from the State House in Abuja by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. Both chief executives, who were initially appointed on October 20, 2023, will officially begin their new terms on October 20, 2026.
Abdulhamid Salihu Dembos (DG, NTA); An indigene of Yola, Adamawa State, and former National President of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Art Workers Union (RATTAWU).
Dembos started at NTA as an announcer at the Kaduna station in 1989. Over his career, he served as General Manager for both NTA Lokoja and NTA Kano, retired as Acting Zonal Director of the NTA Kaduna Network Centre in 2017, and later returned to hold the position of Executive Director of Marketing before his elevated appointment in 2023.
Ali Mohammed Ali (MD, NAN); A veteran journalist with over 30 years in media management, focusing on digital transformation and expanding news platforms. Ali earned his English degree and Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication from Bayero University, Kano, alongside a Master’s degree in International Affairs from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
​According to Onanuga’s statement, President Tinubu charged both leaders to justify his continued trust by remaining dedicated to their agencies’ core public mandates and advancing the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
