President Bola Tinubu has announced the reconstitution of the executive management teams for 10 River Basin Development Authorities (RBDAs) under the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, a move aimed at enhancing the management of Nigeria’s water resources.
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the new appointments reflect a commitment to improving operational efficiency in water resource management in Nigeria.
The newly appointed executive management teams include those for:
1) Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority (covering Lagos, Oyo, Ogun and Osun), with Odebunmi Olusegun (Oyo) as Chairman and Adedeji Ashiru (Osun) as Managing Director. Executive Directors: Ayo Oyalowo (Finance, Oyo), Dokunmu Olufemi Oyekunle (Planning and Design, Ogun), Suleiman Oris (Agric Services, Lagos), and Julius Oloro (Engineering, Lagos).
2) Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority (Yola, covering Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, and Bauchi):
Chairman: Sanus Babantanko (Bauchi), Managing Director: Samuel Mohammed (Taraba), Executive Directors include Usman Bakare (Engineering, Taraba) and Ibrahim Jalo (Finance, Gombe).
3) Chad Basin Development Authority (Maiduguri, covering Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa), with Abdu Dauda (Borno), as Chairman and Tijjani Tumsa (Yobe), as Managing Director.
4) Niger Delta Basin Development Authority: Chairman: Ebikemi Bosin (Delta), Managing Director: Amgbare Ebitimi (Bayelsa).
5) Upper Niger River Basin Development Authority in Minna;
6) Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority in Ilorin;
7) Lower Benue River Basin Development Authority in Makurdi;
8) Anambra-Imo River Basin Development Authority in Owerri;
8) Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority in Kano;
9) Cross River Basin Development Authority in Calabar, and
10) Sokoto Rima Basin Development Authority.
Tinubu expressed confidence that these appointees would utilize their extensive experience to enhance the operational capacity of the RBDAs.
