President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has joined the business and labour communities in mourning the death of renowned Kano-based entrepreneur and trade union leader, Bature Abdulaziz, whose passing over the weekend has drawn tributes from across the country.
The President described Abdulaziz’s death as a profound loss that extends far beyond Kano State, noting that his influence on commerce and organised trade touched many parts of Nigeria.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu said the late businessman played a pivotal role in strengthening trade unions and promoting economic empowerment among small and medium-scale entrepreneurs.
According to the President, Abdulaziz’s leadership as National President of the Harmonised Traders Association of Nigeria helped unify traders and amplify their voices in national economic discussions.
He also acknowledged the deceased’s involvement in several commerce-related unions, where he was widely respected for his commitment to fairness, dialogue and sustainable business growth.
Tinubu extended his condolences to the family of the late trade unionist, as well as the Kano business community and members of various traders’ associations who worked closely with him.
The President prayed for the repose of Abdulaziz’s soul and urged those he left behind to uphold his legacy of service, unity and dedication to economic development.
Abdulaziz’s death has continued to attract tributes from business leaders and market associations who described him as a bridge-builder and advocate for traders nationwide.
