Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo, has described the ongoing road infrastructure development across the country under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as clear evidence of strong political will and a determined commitment to transforming Nigeria’s economy and public infrastructure.
Goronyo said the scale and spread of road projects being executed under the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda reflect President Tinubu’s deep concern for national development and his determination to improve the living conditions of Nigerians through strategic investments in infrastructure.
The minister noted that road construction and rehabilitation projects currently ongoing in different parts of the country are already improving connectivity between communities, facilitating trade and strengthening economic integration among states and regions.
According to him, the road infrastructure drive of the current administration is not only addressing long-standing transportation challenges but also creating opportunities for economic expansion, investment growth and job creation.
He explained that improved road networks remain essential to the nation’s socio-economic progress because they support agriculture, commerce, industrialisation and access to critical services.
Goronyo stated that many communities that were previously isolated due to poor road conditions are now beginning to experience better access to markets, healthcare facilities and educational institutions as a result of ongoing federal road projects.
The minister said the Tinubu administration recognises infrastructure as a major foundation for sustainable national development and is therefore investing heavily in strategic roads and highways across the federation.
He added that the Renewed Hope Agenda was designed to restore public confidence in governance through practical projects capable of improving daily life and stimulating economic activities nationwide.
According to him, several critical highways linking major economic corridors are currently receiving attention, while rehabilitation works on neglected roads are helping to ease transportation difficulties faced by motorists and businesses.
Goronyo stressed that the administration’s intervention in the road sector is gradually reducing travel time, lowering vehicle maintenance costs and enhancing the movement of goods and services across the country.
He further explained that the federal government’s infrastructure policy goes beyond road construction alone, noting that the objective is to create a transportation system capable of supporting Nigeria’s growing population and expanding economy.
The minister maintained that the projects being executed under the Renewed Hope Agenda are already strengthening national unity by improving interconnectivity between regions and encouraging economic cooperation among states.
He said improved transportation infrastructure would also contribute significantly to food security by enabling farmers to move agricultural produce from rural communities to urban markets more efficiently.
Goronyo praised contractors handling federal road projects for the level of work recorded so far, while also urging them to maintain quality standards and ensure timely completion of projects.
He assured Nigerians that the Ministry of Works remains committed to monitoring ongoing projects to guarantee value for public funds and ensure that infrastructure investments deliver long-term benefits.
