President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Ondo State Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on his fresh term in office.

According to a statement issued by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu urged him to use his overwhelming mandate to serve the good people of the state and build on the legacy of his illustrious predecessor, the Late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, by expanding economic opportunities, reducing poverty, improving security, and providing critical infrastructure.

“I congratulate you for your successful inauguration today for a new term of office after an outstanding run in the last governorship election in Ondo State.

“You have a rare privilege to succeed your illustrious predecessor, who worked for the growth and development of the state and advanced the progress of Nigeria as a whole.

“Having been sworn in today for a fresh term in office, I urge you to work in the best interest of the people of the state and our country as a whole. I will be your partner in progress to usher in a new era of prosperity to the people of Ondo State,” Tinubu said.

Aiyedatiwa, who succeeded former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, was sworn in Monday – yesterday, February 24 – in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, to begin his own term as Governor.

He had been sworn in as Governor after the demise of his principal, the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, in December 2023.

However, Aiyedatiwa was later to win the Ondo governorship election, which took place on November 16 last year.
