President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Paris on Sunday morning, September 13, 2026, marking the start of the second phase of his three-week annual leave in Europe. ​Upon touchdown in the French capital, President Tinubu was officially received by Nigeria’s Ambassador to France, Emmanuel Ayodele Oke.
​The President originally departed from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Sunday, August 30, 2026. His European itinerary commenced with a initial stop in London, United Kingdom, before transitioning to France for the next leg of his working vacation. ​
In a statement titled “President Tinubu Begins Three-Week Leave,” issued prior to the President’s departure, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, outlined the timeline and scope of the trip.
Onanuga noted that following the conclusion of the three-week period, the President will return to Abuja to resume official duties and join preparations ahead of the upcoming January 2027 general elections. ​This trip represents another visit to Paris for the Nigerian leader.
Paris remains a frequent location on President Tinubu’s diplomatic and private travel itinerary since assuming office in May 2023. ​
The President is scheduled to conclude his break and return to Nigeria next weekend.
