Three police officers were killed in a clash with suspected Lakurawa terrorists on Friday, July 11, along the Zogirma–Tilli Road in Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State. The incident occurred around 7 p.m., when officers intercepted the militants who were allegedly planning an attack on civilians, igniting a fierce gun battle.
CSP Nafiu Abubakar, spokesperson for Kebbi State Police Command, confirmed the tragic deaths and noted that several attackers were neutralised during the engagement. Reinforcements from Zogirma divisional police and the No. 36 Mobile Force Squadron were deployed, but the terrorists fled into the nearby forest. Commissioner of Police Bello M. Sani praised the officers’ bravery and urged residents to assist by reporting suspicious activities to law enforcement.
