Thousands of residents of Eti-Osa in Lagos State at the weekend openly declared their support for President Bola Tinubu, governorship hopeful Obafemi Hamzat and Lagos State House of Assembly member Noheem Adams ahead of the forthcoming elections, in what party leaders described as a major political endorsement within the constituency.
The gathering, which attracted a large crowd of party faithful, community leaders, market groups, youth organisations and residents from various parts of Eti-Osa, was marked by chants, solidarity songs and public declarations of loyalty to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Political stakeholders at the event described the show of support as a reflection of growing confidence in the APC leadership structure within the constituency and across Lagos State.
Among those present at the event were members of the Central Working Committee of the APC in Eti-Osa led by Engr. Murphy Adetoro, a prominent member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), alongside chairmen of the three local government areas in Eti-Osa Constituency I. Also in attendance were APC ward chairmen, traditional rulers, community development leaders and representatives of the Lekki Residents Association, all of whom reaffirmed their backing for Noheem Adams, who currently serves as the Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The stakeholders had earlier adopted Adams as the party’s consensus candidate in the constituency, citing his track record in legislative representation, constituency development and grassroots mobilisation. Speaking at the event, party leaders said the endorsement was aimed at consolidating political stability within the constituency and ensuring continuity in governance and development initiatives associated with the ruling party.
They praised President Tinubu’s leadership at the national level and commended his administration’s efforts toward economic reforms, infrastructure expansion and national development. The speakers also expressed confidence in the political experience of Obafemi Hamzat, describing him as a competent leader with a deep understanding of governance and public administration. Supporters at the rally carried banners and placards bearing messages of solidarity and commitment to the APC, while many residents described Adams as a dependable representative who had remained accessible to the people.
Several traditional rulers who addressed the gathering urged residents to remain united and continue supporting leaders they believed had contributed to the growth and development of the constituency. Community representatives also highlighted ongoing projects and interventions within Eti-Osa, noting that effective collaboration between elected officials and grassroots stakeholders had helped address some pressing local concerns. Engr. Murphy Adetoro, while speaking on behalf of the APC leadership in the area, said the party remained focused on strengthening internal unity and mobilising support ahead of the elections.
He noted that the decision to rally behind consensus candidates was reached after extensive consultations with stakeholders across the constituency. According to him, the APC leadership in Eti-Osa is determined to maintain the party’s dominance in the area by presenting candidates with strong grassroots acceptance and proven loyalty to the party structure. Adams, who received loud cheers from supporters during his address, thanked residents and party leaders for the confidence reposed in him, promising to continue delivering quality representation and people-oriented programmes.
He pledged to deepen engagement with constituents and sustain developmental efforts aimed at improving the welfare of residents across the constituency. The lawmaker also called for continued support for President Tinubu and the APC leadership in Lagos, saying unity among party members would remain critical to electoral success. Observers at the event described the turnout as one of the largest recent political gatherings in Eti-Osa, underscoring the strategic importance of the constituency in Lagos politics.
Political analysts noted that endorsements by influential party stakeholders, traditional institutions and residents’ associations could significantly shape political alignments ahead of the elections. The rally ended with renewed pledges by party supporters to intensify grassroots mobilisation efforts across the wards and local government areas within Eti-Osa as preparations for the polls gather momentum.
