Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been formally charged with multiple serious sexual offences by the Metropolitan Police Service, following a detailed investigation into allegations spanning between 2021 and 2022.

In an official statement released by the Metropolitan Police on Monday, the force confirmed: “The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised the Metropolitan Police Service to charge a man after a file of evidence was submitted by detectives.”

The statement continued: “The Met has issued a charge and requisition to Thomas Partey, 32 (13/06/1992), of Hertfordshire, in connection with the following offences: five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.”

The charges relate to incidents alleged to have occurred over a period from 2021 to 2022, although authorities have not disclosed the identities of the complainants or further details surrounding the locations or circumstances of the offences.

Partey, a Ghanaian international who joined Arsenal from Atlético Madrid in 2020, has yet to publicly respond to the charges. The legal process is now underway, and he is expected to appear in court in the coming days.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) emphasised its duty to ensure fair trials and urged the public to refrain from speculating or sharing details that could jeopardise the proceedings or undermine the rights of those involved.

The case is likely to have wide implications both legally and professionally for Partey, who remains a prominent figure in both club and international football.
