The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for Northern Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory has announced the passing of Rev. Fr. Dr. Polycarp Lubo, the Plateau State CAN Chairman and Treasurer of Northern CAN. The announcement, issued by Rev. Dr. Joseph Hayab, Northern CAN Chairman, confirms that Fr. Lubo died on Sunday following a brief illness complicated by injuries sustained in a recent accident which was reported by The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) two weeks ago.
Fr. Lubo, also the Parish Priest of St. William’s Catholic Church in Zawan, Jos, was eulogized as a “courageous and devoted servant of God” who tirelessly championed truth, justice, and peace. CAN also highlighted his role in interfaith collaboration and public health, noting his efforts with the Sultan Foundation to promote immunization and polio eradication. His passing, they said, leaves a “significant void” in the Northern Christian community. CAN extended heartfelt condolences to his family, parishioners, and the broader Christian family.
