The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially appointed Alhaji Dalori as the new Acting National Chairman of the party, following the resignation of former chairman Abdullahi Ganduje last Friday.
Reports from 9NEWS NIGERIA indicate that Ganduje stepped down amid growing criticism over his handling of the FCT Area Council election primaries. Sources revealed that the controversial Bwari Area Council Chairmanship primary, where the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) reportedly chased away other aspirants to favor Hon. Joshua Musa Ishaku—a candidate allegedly aligned with the PDP and unsupportive of Tinubu during the 2023 presidential primaries—sparked outrage within the party.
Insiders describe the incident as “the height of disgrace,” intensifying pressure from party stakeholders, particularly from the North Central zone, who have long demanded that the APC chairmanship be returned to their region. Ganduje’s resignation comes amid increasing internal opposition over his leadership style and ongoing party power struggles.
Ganduje took office in August 2023 after Abdullahi Adamu’s resignation but faced persistent calls from North Central leaders advocating for regional representation in the party’s top leadership.
