Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Abbas Tajudeen, has commended the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management for its support towards Nigeria’s hosting of the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) in Abuja. The forum is scheduled from the 15th to 21st of November, with the main programme running from November 16 to 21.
Tajudeen made the commendation when the President and Chief Executive of the Global Alliance, Prof. Justin Green, and a delegation led by the President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr Ike Neliaku, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja. He said the event, expected to attract delegates from 126 countries, would provide an opportunity for international visitors to gain exposure to developments in Nigeria.
The Speaker also pledged the support of the National Assembly for the successful hosting of the forum. He said the legislature was working towards measures aimed at increasing the inclusion of women and persons with disabilities in legislative representation, while also announcing plans for an “Open Day” to enable citizens to interact with lawmakers.
Green said he had faced challenges in efforts to bring the WPRF to Africa, adding that the Global Alliance had expanded its board to include representatives from six African countries. He said the organisation was committed to strengthening Africa’s participation in global public relations and thanked Tajudeen for supporting Nigeria’s hosting of the forum.
Neliaku, while explaining how Nigeria secured the hosting rights, said the country won the bid based on merit and capacity and was subsequently required to defend its right to host the event. He commended Tajudeen and Green for their support, while the WPRF 2026 organisers said the forum would provide a platform for knowledge-sharing, professional collaboration and discussions on the future of public relations and communication.
