Human rights activist and politician Omoyele Sowore has criticized Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, following his recent meeting with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The critique followed the circulation of a video showing Davido alongside his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, visiting Wike at his residence in Abuja. In the clip, the singer was seen engaging in a conversation with the minister regarding political developments surrounding the Osun State governorship election.
In a post shared on his official X account, Sowore accused the parties involved of political grandstanding and disingenuous behavior. He argued that the friendly interaction exposed the underlying alignment of interests among political actors, contrasting their public posturing with the real-world consequences faced by everyday citizens during electoral contests.
Reacting further to the viral video, Sowore described the visit as a display of political opportunism, asserting that public grandstanding quickly fades when elite interests converge. He pointed out that despite the political tension and reported incidents of violence recorded during the election period, key players routinely set aside their public rivalries behind closed doors once political objectives are met.
