The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has approved contracts worth approximately N3.6 billion for road, power, school, and other infrastructure projects to advance Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s development agenda. Commissioner for Information Dr. Law Mefor announced the approvals following the 15th ANSEC meeting on July 31, 2025, at the Light House in Awka. Key projects include N1.8 billion for a 2.5-km access road linking communities in Nnewi South to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, awarded to Zest Construction Ltd., and N900 million for solar-powered streetlights to boost security and nighttime economic activity, contracted to SolarTech Nigeria Ltd. Additionally, N596.7 million will fund a one-storey student centre at Nwafor Orizu College of Education, awarded to Ozoh United Ventures Nig Ltd., and N177.7 million is allocated for water sanitation and hygiene facilities at Nkwo Umunze.
The council also approved the restoration of Abakaliki Street’s original name in Awka, reversing its 2018 renaming to Club Road, to preserve Igbo historical significance. Mefor noted that the power project for the Anambra Mixed-Use Industrial City is nearing completion, signaling progress toward activating the industrial park for investors. These initiatives, expected to be completed within 12 to 18 months, align with Soludo’s vision to make Anambra a livable and prosperous state, building on prior investments like N54.9 billion for infrastructure in 2024.
