Security operatives in Sokoto State arrested Sirajo Ahmad Dan Liman, the Deputy Chief Imam of the Central Jumu’ah Mosque in Kangiye, Atakwanyo Ward, Gwadabawa Local Government Area, on August 13, 2025, for allegedly collaborating with armed bandits, as confirmed by multiple sources. Intelligence investigations reportedly linked Dan Liman to supplying motorcycles and essential items to criminal groups operating along the Tangaza–Niger Republic border, with ₦47 million found in his bank account, suspected to be proceeds from these dealings. Beyond his religious role, where he often deputized for his father, the Chief Imam, during Friday prayers and Ramadan sermons, Dan Liman serves as the ward chairman of a political party and secretary of the forum of political party chairmen in Gwadabawa LGA.
