Owerri, the capital of Imo State was like a ghost town earlier today (Monday, October 21) as residents complied with the Indigenous People of Biafra ( IPOB) sit – at – home.
All major markets in the state capital as well as commercial banks, both public and private schools, and filling stations were all closed.
Also, the State Secretariat along the Owerri/ Port Harcourt road was deserted as civil servants stayed at home.
All the major roads within the Owerri capital metropolis were deserted. However, the few commercial bus drivers who ventured out to the city centre increased their fares.
Even police check points were not seen as the policemen were also off the road.
Some residents who spoke with our correspondent said that most residents decided to obey the order because nobody wants to be a victim.
“It is better to remain indoors rather than fall victim. I am supposed to travel to Asaba today for something important. But I have informed them that I wouldn’t make it because of this sit- at – home order.
