The Senate has confirmed that it cannot reinstate Senator Natasha Akpoti‑Uduaghan until it receives and reviews the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Federal High Court judgment in her case against Senate President Godswill Akpabio. Senate spokesperson Yemi Adaramodu told NAN the upper chamber formally applied for the CTC earlier last week, and will only act on reinstatement after examining its contents and sitting as a full Senate to take a position.
Adaramodu explained that while the court ruled her six‑month suspension unconstitutional, the Senate must follow its Standing Orders and maintain order. He stressed the rule of law and emphasised that only after the CTC is received will the Senate determine whether and when to recall Akpoti‑Uduaghan. He reiterated that their 180‑day suspension includes non‑parliamentary days and warned against misinterpretation of legislative due process by the public.
