Senator Chris Adighije struck an optimistic note on Nigeria’s future on Tuesday in Umuahia, arguing that continuity at the federal level could unlock deeper national progress.
The former lawmaker, who represented Abia Central Senatorial District and remains a key stakeholder of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, said the country would record measurable improvement if President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is given another four-year mandate.
According to him, ongoing reforms and policies require time to mature, adding that sustained leadership would help stabilise the economy and strengthen governance.
Adighije used the occasion to call on residents of Ikwuano and Umuahia South local government areas to identify with the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He described political alignment as essential for communities seeking greater inclusion in national decision-making and development programmes.
While advocating wider support for the ruling party, the former senator was quick to dismiss fears of political domination, insisting that the APC does not believe in, or promote, a one-party system.
He said healthy competition among political parties remains vital for Nigeria’s democracy to thrive. The remarks were made during a ceremony organised by the Ikwuano/Umuahia Initiative, a pro-APC political group, which formally appointed Adighije as its Patron.
The group, led by Chief Ako Atuloma, said the honour was in recognition of his experience and continued contributions to the growth of the party in the area.
Supporters at the event described the appointment as a strategic step toward consolidating the APC’s presence in Abia Central, as preparations gradually begin for the 2027 polls.
