Mr. Jamiu Alli-Balogun, the Lagos State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, has called on school administrators across the state to ensure full compliance with approved public health guidelines and safety protocols as schools reopen for the second term on January 12.
The commissioner made the appeal in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Kayode Sutton, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
Alli-Balogun emphasised that the safety and well-being of students, teachers and other school personnel remain a top priority of the state government. He noted that strict adherence to health regulations within school environments is essential to maintaining a safe and conducive atmosphere for learning.
According to him, school authorities must ensure that all prescribed safety measures are fully implemented, including proper sanitation, hygiene practices and general health monitoring, to prevent the spread of communicable diseases.
The commissioner also urged parents and guardians to cooperate with school managements by reinforcing health and safety practices at home, stressing that collective responsibility is key to safeguarding the school community.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Lagos State Government to continuous monitoring and support for schools to ensure that academic activities resume smoothly and safely in the second term.
