Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged members of the Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S) Church to embrace innovation, modernity, and renewed vision as they chart the future of the Christian faith in Nigeria.

Speaking at a special service held in Lagos on Sunday, Sanwo-Olu commended the C&S for its historic role in spreading the gospel across the country but noted that the time had come for the church to reposition itself for contemporary challenges.

>Our fathers have done well in laying the foundation of this church. But this generation has the responsibility of moving the C&S to the future—by embracing education, technology, and modern methods of evangelism,” the governor said.

Sanwo-Olu highlighted the growing influence of digital platforms in shaping the global church landscape, stressing that the C&S must not be left behind in adopting new tools for outreach and youth engagement.

He further encouraged the church to invest in capacity building, empower young people within its fold, and play an active role in addressing social issues such as poverty, unemployment, and moral decline.

“The church must continue to be a light to the world, not just in prayers and worship, but also in how it contributes to the development of society,” he added.

In response, leaders of the Cherubim and Seraphim acknowledged the governor’s call and pledged to work towards repositioning the church while sustaining its spiritual heritage.

The event drew dignitaries from across Lagos and beyond, as the C&S celebrated its legacy while committing to a future defined by relevance, impact, and renewed vision.
