Mr Ahmed Sanusi on Tuesday assumed duty as the 35th Commissioner of Police (CP) in charge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The Police Public Relations Officer in the FCT, SP Josephine Adeh said this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.
Adeh said Sanusi had taken over following the elevation of his predecessor, Mr Miller Dantawaye to the rank of an Assitant Inspector-General of Police and redeployment to another strategic assignment.
According to her, Sanusi is a seasoned police officer with decades of meritorious service and extensive professional experience.
She said Sanusi, born on May 20, 1972, hailed from Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Adeh said the new CP was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in May 2000.
“Following his successful training and passing-out parade in 2001, he was posted to the Police Command in Niger where he commenced his policing career.
“As he assumes duty today, Sanusi has affirmed his commitment to strengthening existing security frameworks and enhancing community-police relations across the FCT,” she said.
Adeh said Sanusi was the Commander of Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Response Team (IRT) before his appointment as the CP for FCT.
According to her, Sanusi, a devout Muslim, happily married, and blessed with children is passionate about policing and committed to excellence.
She enjoined the FCT residents to continue to support the police in its efforts to maintain peace, law, and order within the territory.
