A 24-year old boy in Ohong Community of Obudu Local Government Area, Cross River State has allegedly killed his mother and dumped her body in a well.
The tragic incident is said to have occurred two days ago in an incident which left the community in a huge shock.
A source said the suspect allegedly tied up his mother, who had just returned from church, and, with the assistance of a friend, threw her into the well.
The suspect whose name has not been ascertained reportedly threatened a housemaid present at the scene, warning her against revealing the act.
The housemaid was later taken by the suspect on a motorcycle, ostensibly for sinister motives, but was intercepted by local vigilantes whoe released her.
The young girl narrated the horrifying events, leading to the community discovering the tragic murder.
When contacted, the Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer SP Irene Ugbo confirmed the incident to our correspondent in Calabar.
According to her, “we are on it and will soon apprehend the suspect”, she said.
She also disclosed that some money was transferred from the victim’s account following her death and the command would soon apprehend the suspect.
