Gov. Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers has congratulated the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ukalikpe Napoleon and Henrietta Bulabari, on their victory in Saturday’s bye-elections in the state.
This is contained in a statement issued to newsmen by Mr Onwuka Nzeshi, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, in Port Harcourt, on Tuesday.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted bye-elections to fill two vacant seats in the Rivers House of Assembly.
Napoleon of the APC emerged winner in Ahoada East State Constituency, while Bulabari clinched the Khana State Constituency II seat, defeating candidates of other political parties.
He described the victory of the APC candidates as well-deserved, given their popularity in their respective constituencies.
“It is the beauty of democracy. When the people believe in your capacity, they will give you their votes.
“I look forward to working with them and their colleagues in the State House of Assembly,” the governor said.
Fubara commended the people of the two constituencies for their peaceful conduct before, during and after the elections.
