A forty-three-year old Rivers State-based businessman, Richard Nomanzi, has been found dead in Port Harcourt, the State capital, with multiple stab wounds on his body  .

Nomanzi, who, until his untimely death, was dealing in metal scrap, was found dead in his residence in Ogbogoro community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday – yesterday, February 12.

His death was discovered when neighbours in his compound alerted the police and his relatives after perceiving an offensive odour emanating from his apartment, according to a report by Daily Sun.

Sources disclosed that on entering the apartment, the neighbours saw his lifeless body.

A source identified as Gift, who confirmed the report, said an unknown person called her on phone to break the sad news.

The lady, who disclosed that she is the mother of the deceased’s child, said she discovered that Nomanzi had several stabs and machete cuts on his body.

She narrated: “My name is Gift,  the mother of Favour. Favour is the child of Richard Chijioke.

“I got a call by 3:15 pm yesterday (Wednesday), after school. I was at my business premises. The  caller asked if I knew Richard Chijioke Nomanzi. I said yes. The caller asked what my relationship with him was. I told the caller  I had a child for him.

“They said, I should come to Ogbogoro. Behold, when I got there, I just saw his corpse, at his door, the front side. When they turned him, I saw that they stabbed him all over his face, his stomach with a cut on his neck.”

Gift said with the help of the Police, the corpse was carried and deposited at a morgue.

She appealed to the Police to carry out a thorough investigation into the matter and get justice for the deceased and his child.

“So, with the help of the Police, we took him to the mortuary. All I want right now is justice for him and for his child,” Gift pleaded.

The Rivers State Police Command was yet to confirm the incident at the time of filing the report.

But, it was gathered that the incident had been reported to Ozuoba Police Division under Choba Area Command in the state.
